When a chef's Instagram post goes viral, the subject is usually something extra-cheesy or super chocolatey. Nothing tugs on 'grammers heartstrings like gluttony. But the photo that sent Nigella Lawson's followers into a frenzy back in June was just a blurry shot of the celeb chef filming on the set of her new series. It racked up 33,732 likes - double what most of her posts get - and comments like, "Great! Looking fit and fabulous!", "looking so svelte Nigella!", and "How can you eat so well and look that good."

Lawson's weight has been a topic of tabloid fodder for years, but it hasn't made her soft-spoken on the subject. Here's how she says she stays fit at 57. (Yep, girlfriend's fifty-freakin'-seven.)

Nigella knows how to indulge.

When the chef wants to cut down on calories, she doesn't eliminate the good stuff altogether. "Why not just eat less of something, rather than having a low-fat version?" she told Health. In recent decades, Lawson has made an effort to not eat as much per sitting.

She's a yogi.

Lawson's smart enough to know she can't trick herself into liking exercise. "I have to do something I enjoy, otherwise I wouldn't do it," she told Good Housekeeping UK. The chef tries to squeeze three yoga sessions into her weekly schedule. Her favorite form is a slower one called iyengar, but when she can't make time, Lawson simply stretches. "The older I get, the more I realize I have got to do lots of stretching," she added to the magazine.

She satisfies her cravings.

If you've got a sweet tooth, this scene probably sounds familiar to you. "The girlfriends I have who are on permanent diets come straight into my kitchen, open cupboards, open cookie tins, and eat ice cream," Lawson has said. She knows depravation leads to binging and solves it like this: "When I want a bit of chocolate, I have a bit of chocolate. And then I don't have to eat 10 bars of it! I'm not denying myself, so I don't get that obsessive craving."

She believes in whole grains.

There's a group of people who think grains are evil. Nigella Lawson isn't part of it. "I'm on a campaign to make farro more widely known," Lawson said back in 2013. "You feel like you're having the more indulgent Italian food, but it's a whole grain, so it's healthy." The chef likes to make risotto from it, since it's better for you than traditional Arborio rice.

Nigella has a healthy food philosophy.

It's not that Lawson doesn't eat clean; it's that she doesn't like the fuss surrounding it. "There is a way in which food is used to either self-congratulate - you're a better person because you're eating like that - or to self-persecute, because you'll not allow yourself to eat what you want," she said at a London press event. Instead of doing just that, Lawson tries to find a healthy balance in her diet - and she doesn't stress over slip ups.
