More children being diagnosed with autism at younger ages, study shows

Newly released numbers suggest more children in the United States are being diagnosed with autism at younger ages. In a study of 2018 data, researchers at the CDC found that among 8-year-olds, one in 44 had been diagnosed with autism. That compares to one in 54 children in 2016. Experts believe the increase reflects more awareness and wider availability of special autism services.
