Texas Administers First U.S. Execution Of The Year

on Wednesday, texas executed an inmate convicted of killing two men over a drug deal. It was first U.S. execution of 2017. Christopher Wilkins was declared dead 13 minutes after a lethal injection of pentobarbital. He mouthed "I'm sorry" twice to two relatives of one of the murder victims as they watched. He gave no final statement. During his capital murder trial in 2008, wilkins had explained to jurors how and why he killed his friends in Fort Worth three years earlier. He said he didn't care if he was given the death penalty.
