Hilary Duff has a very spot-on message for all those who have ever felt mommy-shamed or bullied by judgmental know-it-alls online.

Despite having an Instagram page full of fun selfies with her family and inspiring messages for her followers, the internet, sadly, hasn't always been so kind to her in return. Thankfully though, Hilary told GoodHousekeeping.com while working with Jif on the "Imagine If, With Jif" campaign (which will award $15,000 to one inspiring kid on November 8), that she's getting better at blocking out the noise. Her advice to new moms? Find your support network, and walk away from all the rest.

"Women are incredible and our bodies are incredible," Hilary says. "Sticking to your intuition and your gut and going to places that feel good for advice or to be free to talk or express how you're feeling is best."

Of course, it's not always that simple. In the past, Hilary has posted on her Instagram about being harassed by body shamers for wearing a bathing suit. A few years back, some parents online made a huge fuss about a picture of her kissing her son, Luca, on the lips. With these experiences behind her, tells us that she doesn't understand where the hate comes from and why people think it's necessary to put her down.

"I don't make comments on other people's photos that I don't know. So, it's so funny to me that people will go out of their way to say something mean or judge-y on my Instagram," she says. "Why are you here then? If you want some place where they agree with all of your opinions, go there."

Hilary goes on to say that while she is "guilty of having opinions about the way other moms parent," she would never actually say something unless she thought the child-in-question was in danger.

"You know, sometimes we think our way is the right away. But, really, just trying to do what works best for your family and what feels good for you [is best]," she concludes.

And focusing on what works for her family is exactly what she and her boyfriend, Matthew Koma, are doing with their newborn baby girl, Banks Violet Bair. The pair welcomed the new addition to their family this last Thursday and shared the news via Instagram this week. In her post, she lovingly described her daughter as "absolute magic."
