If you spent Thanksgiving with friends and family this year, you might have assumed that getting tested for COVID-19 immediately was the responsible thing to do. But it turns out, the timing of your swab could render the results useless. In an interview with Face the Nation on Nov. 29, Deborah Birx, MD, the coordinator of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, warned that people who gathered for the holiday, "need to be tested about five to 10 days later." That means if you already went to get your COVID test, your timing is off.
