23 Memorial Day Activities To Do This Weekend. Yes, Even In Quarantine

Woman's Day Logo By Kelsey Hurwitz, Katina Beniaris of Woman's Day | Slide 1 of 24: With all of the fun outdoor activities to participate in — from family barbecues to group beach trips — many people think of Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer. And of course the ample sunshine supports that idea. But it's also important to take some time to honor the military men and women who have died while serving our country, after all, that's the reason for the holiday. Fortunately, there are many Memorial Day activities that honor those who served our country, even though this year's Memorial Day will take place during a worldwide pandemic. Even in quarantine, there are safe ways to celebrate the United States military personnel, including visiting a veterans’ cemetery (staying 6 feet apart from other people, of course) and donating flowers, to hosting a potluck for your quarantine crew. Be sure to check your state and local guidelines before venturing out to public places to make sure it's allowed, and don't forget to wear your face masks and keep a safe distance from others. Taking part in these Memorial Day activities while being sure your keeping yourself and others safe and healthy helps to preserve the spirit of the holiday and the perished service men and women's efforts to keep us safe. Happy Memorial Day!
