With regular visitors unallowed due to the coronavirus pandemic, retirement and assisted living communities are looking for new ways to safely socialize their residents, and you can help. All you need is a pen and paper. That's right — they're looking for pen pals.

On Facebook, North Carolina-based Victorian Senior Care has been posting photos of residents from multiple different centers and what they're looking for in a pen pal.

For example, Flo would like to hear from someone who likes church, jewelry and country music; Jeanette would like to connect with someone who enjoys gospel music, crosswords and helping others; and Scott would like to talk with someone about heavy metal, computers and the Carolina Panthers.

Others are looking for veterans, animal lovers, sports fans, movie aficionados and people from their home countries. Some are simply asking for new friends.

Most of the posts have gone viral, and many people have commented saying that they plan to or already have sent letters to residents. That said, Victorian Senior Care is still looking for more.

You can browse through the photos on the organization's Facebook page to find someone to write to and where to send it. Taking a few minutes of your day to write someone in need is just one of many ways people are showing kindness in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.
