Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke Dies At 89

Australia's third-longest serving prime minister died at his home in Sydney on 16 May. The popular left-wing lawmaker led the country from 1983 to 1991. During that time, he boosted Australia's economy, established a universal healthcare system and fought to protect the environment. Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard called him "the greatest peacetime leader Australia has ever had".
