For example, it wasn't one of the Queen's iconic tiaras that Diana wore on her wedding day to Prince Charles, but rather a family tiara that her sister had also worn at her wedding.

In 1995, Princess Diana paid a visit to the White House and naturally stunned in a dark blue Victor Edelstein gown. And when she gave birth to Prince William, Prince Charles gave her an engraved necklace with William's name that she wore for years afterwards.

Which is why we weren't surprised to find out that the reason Lady Diana Spencer was snapped at the Polo wearing two watches, was a subtle nod to her fiancé at the time, Prince Charles.

According to the website, Diana wore the watch as a tribute to Charles and to wish him luck in the Polo match. Which is really rather sweet, don't you think?

It seems as though the Duchess of Cambridge loves sentimental jewellery as much as her late mother-in-law. Aside from her engagement ring, which was of course Princess Diana's, Kate has also been photographed wearing personalised jewellery gifted to her by her sister Pippa Middleton and husband Prince William.
