Parents who bought Infants' Tylenol in the past six years could get money back from a $6.3 million lawsuit settlement with Johnson & Johnson.

The medicine's packaging, which features a picture of a mother holding her baby and a label that says "infants," misleads consumers into thinking Infants' Tylenol is specially formulated for infants, the class-action lawsuit argued.

In reality, the bottle contains the same concentration of liquid acetaminophen as Children's Tylenol, but often at a higher price, according to the lawsuit.

However, Infants' Tylenol includes a syringe to administer a safe dose of the liquid medicine to an infant, which Children's Tylenol does not include, making the two products different, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. said.

The company denied that it deceived anyone, but agreed to pay up to $6.3 million to consumers who purchased the medicine from Oct. 3, 2014, to Jan. 6, 2020, to settle the lawsuit.

The company also agreed to clarify on the packaging of Infants' Tylenol that the medicine contains the same concentration of liquid acetaminophen as Children's Tylenol.
