In connection with such closing, it changed its name to FutureFuel Corp. The Company, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, FutureFuel Chemical Company, owns and operates a chemical production facility located on approximately 2,200 acres of land six miles southeast of Batesville in north central Arkansas fronting the White River. Approximately 500 acres of the sites are occupied with batch and continuous manufacturing facilities, laboratories, and associated infrastructure, including on-site...more liquid waste treatment. FutureFuel Chemical Company manufactures diversified chemical products, biobased products comprised of biofuels, and biobased specialty chemical products. FutureFuel Chemical Company operates in two reporting segments; chemicals and biofuels. The chemicals segment manufactures a diversified listing of chemical products that are sold to third party customers. This segment comprises two components; custom manufacturing (manufacturing specialty chemicals for specific customers); and performance chemicals (multi-customer specialty chemicals). Custom manufacturing involves producing products for individual customers, generally under long-term contracts. Its plant’s custom manufacturing product portfolio includes products that are used in the agricultural chemical, coatings, chemical intermediates, industrial and consumer cleaning, oil and gas and specialty polymers. The biofuels segment redesigned its continuous line to produce biodiesel from feedstock with high free fatty acids. It sells petrodiesel in blends with its biodiesel and, from time to time, with no biodiesel added. It currently markets its biodiesel products by truck, rail and barge directly to customers in the United States. Its chemical products are used in a variety of markets and end uses, including detergent, agrochemical, automotive, oil and gas, coatings, nutrition, and polymer additives. The Company competes with Renewable Energy Group, Inc., RBF Port Neches LLC, GreenHunter BioFuels LLC, Imperium Grays Harbor, Green Earth Fuels of Houston LLC, Archer Daniels Midland Co., Delta BioFuels Inc., Louis Dreyfus Agricultural Industries LLC, Felda IFFCO LLC, and Peter Cremer North America LP.
