World Fuel Services Corp was incorporated in Florida in July 1984. The Company is a fuel logistics company involved in the marketing and sale of marine, aviation and land fuel products and related services. It has three reportable op...moreerating business segments: Marine, Aviation and Land. In its marine segment, the Company offers fuel and related services to a base of maritime customers, including international container and tanker fleets, commercial cruise lines and time-charter operators, as well as to the United States and foreign governments. The majority of its marine segment activity consists of spot sales. In its aviation segment, the Company offers fuel and related services to major commercial airlines, second- and third-tier airlines, cargo carriers, regional and low-cost carriers, corporate f...moreleets, fractional operators, private aircraft, military fleets and to the United States and foreign governments. Its aviation-related services include fuel management, price risk management, arranging ground handling, providing 24/7 global dispatch services and arranging and providing international trip planning, including flight plans, weather reports and overflight permits. In addition, it offers card payment solutions and related processing services. Because fuel is a major component of an aircraft operating costs, its customers require cost effective and professional fuel services. In its land segment, it offers fuel and related services to petroleum distributors operating in the land transportation market, retail petroleum operators and industrial, commercial and government customers. Its land-related services include management services for the procurement of fuel and price risk management. Additionally, it engages in crude oil marketing activities. It conducts these activities throughout the United States as well as parts of Brazil and the United Kingdom. In addition, it offers transaction management services, which include card payment solutions, merchant processing services, payment solutions for tolls across Europe, government payment systems for global fuel procurement and commercial payment programs in the land transportation industry. The Company competes with the major oil producers that market fuel directly to the large commercial airlines, shipping companies and petroleum distributors operating in the land transportation market as well as fuel resellers. The Company’s current and past activities are subject to regulation by federal, state and local government agencies, inside and outside the United States.lessless
