The name was subsequently changed to Sonoco Products Company. It is a manufacturer of industrial and c...moreonsumer packaging products and a provider of packaging services, with 355 locations in 33 countries. The Company’s operations are organized, managed and reported in four segments, Consumer Packaging, Paper and Industrial Converted Products, Protective Packaging and Packaging Services. The Consumer Packaging segment includes the following products and services: round and shaped rigid containers and trays (both composite and thermoformed plastic); blow-molded plastic bottles and jars; extruded and injection-molded plastic products; printed flexible packaging; metal and pee...morelable membrane ends and closures; and brand artwork management. The Paper and Industrial Converted Products segment includes the following products: high-performance paper and composite paperboard tubes and cores; fiber-based construction tubes and forms; wooden, metal and composite wire and cable reels and spools; and recycled paperboard, linerboard, corrugating medium, recovered paper and other recycled materials. The Packaging Services segment includes the following products and services: designing, manufacturing, assembling, packing and distributing temporary, semi-permanent and permanent point-of-purchase displays; supply chain management services, including contract packing, fulfillment and scalable service centers; and paper amenities, such as coasters and glass covers. The Protective Packaging segment includes the following products: custom-designed paperboard-based and expanded foam protective packaging; temperature-assurance packaging; and retail security packaging. The main raw materials used by the Company are recovered paper, paperboard, steel, aluminum and plastic resins. Raw materials are purchased from a number of outside sources. The Company considers the supply and availability of raw materials to be adequate to meet its needs. The Sonoco's products are marketed under trademarks such as Sonoco, Sonotube, Safe-top, Sealed-safe, Duro and Durox. The Company sells its products in competitive markets, which include paper, textile, film, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, packaging, construction, and wire and cable.
