It designs, manufactures and sells flooring products (primarily resilient and wood) and ceiling systems (primarily mineral fiber, fiberglass and metal) around the world. It operates in three segments, being Building Products, Resilient Flooring, Wood Flooring. The markets in which the Company operates include North American Residential, North American Commercial, and Outside of North America. In the North American Residential market, the Company’s Building Products, Resilient Flooring and Wood Flooring segments sell products for use in the ho...moreme. Its ceiling products compete against mineral fiber and fiberglass products from other manufacturers, as well as drywall. Homeowners can choose from vinyl and wood flooring products, or from its laminate flooring products. Its products are used in new home construction and existing home renovation work. In the North American Commercial market, its products include ceilings and resilient flooring, are used in commercial and institutional buildings. In the Outside of North America market, revenues come primarily from new construction and renovation work. The Company sells products through building materials distributors, who re-sell its products to retailers, builders, contractors, installers and others. In the commercial sector, it also sells to several contractors and to subcontractors’ alliances. Competition in North America comes from both domestic and international manufacturers. Additionally, some of its products compete with alternative products or finishing solutions. The Company purchases raw materials from numerous suppliers worldwide in the ordinary course of business. Some of the products that it sells are sourced from third parties. Its primary sourced products include various flooring products (laminate, wood, vinyl sheet and tile), specialty ceiling products and installation-related products, as well as accessories for some of its manufactured products.
