BlackBerry shares were up more than 17% in early morning trading Wednesday after an arbitrator awarded the company $815 million for overpaid royalty fees to Qualcomm .

The arbitrator ruled that BlackBerry overpaid that amount between 2010 and 2015, though Qualcomm has come out and disagreed with the arbitrator's ruling.

Separately, Qualcomm is also currently being sued by Apple in the U.S., China, and U.K. over claims that the chip maker is overcharging for its patents.

Qualcomm shares were down 1.7% Wednesday morning.
