Miles Teller is denying that he was arrested for being drunk in public early Sunday, but a San Diego Police Department spokesman confirms to Gossip Cop the actor “was arrested” and booked for the misdemeanor. Teller claims on Twitter, “I wasn’t arrested,” and that instead he “was detained” supposedly because “there was no evidence to charge me with a crime.” The cops, however, tells us it’s not true.

On Monday, hours after it emerged that Teller was arrested for being drunk in public, he took to Twitter to deny the reports. He first wrote, “Went down to SD to see my buddy before he deployed. I wasn’t arrested I was detained bc there was no evidence to charge me with a crime.” He followed that up with a second tweet that read, “Don’t believe everything you read, especially from a third party entertainment news source trying to get clicks. Appreciate the concern.” But the actor is being untruthful. Gossip Cop reached out for a second time to the San Diego Police Department, and we’re assured, “He was arrested, and he was actually booked.”

The cops tell us, “He was showing signs of being under the influence, swaying side to side, slurring of speech and bloodshot eyes.” After directing Teller to the side, we’re told he was so intoxicated he “almost fell into the street.”

In an effort not to arrest him, the police offered Teller the opportunity to go to a detox center. But when he was “uncooperative and didn’t follow directions” at the detox center, says the police spokesman, Teller was then taken and booked at the San Diego Central Jail for being “drunk in public.” He was later released without bail. Gossip Cop has reached out to Teller’s rep for an explanation as to why the star claims he “wasn’t arrested.”
