The project is set up at Marc Butan’s Mad River Pictures. The script is written by the team of Matthew and Ryan Firpo and centers on an ex-Nazi captain in post-World War II Germany. He seeks atonement for his crimes by tracking down the surviving members of his former SS Death Squad.

Gadot first appeared as Wonder Woman in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” This year’s “Wonder Woman” was a blockbuster for Warner Bros. with $821 million in worldwide box office. Gadot will be seen next as Wonder Woman in the studio’s “Justice League,” which opens Nov. 17.

Gadot is due to star in “Wonder Woman 2” for Warner Bros. next year with Patty Jenkins returning to direct the sequel. The studio has already dated “Wonder Woman 2” for a Dec. 13, 2019, release. She is also attached to star opposite Bradley Cooper in MGM’s supernatural thriller “Deeper.”

Kurzel is an Australian director whose 2015 adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” debuted at the Cannes Film Festival. His 2016 fantasy actioner “Assassin’s Creed,” based on the videogame, generated $240 million in worldwide box office.

Gadot is repped by WME. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
