Most famous musicians who haven't won a Grammy

Stacker Logo By Natalie Morin of Stacker | Slide 1 of 58: With the 60th Annual Grammy Awards around the corner, musicians anxiously wait to see if their hard work over the past year will be rewarded with the highest honor in the industry. But as is the case for many of the most accomplished and world-renowned artists, having a mantle devoid of a Grammy, or any other award for that matter, does not negate his or her success or the meaningfulness of the artist’s work.In fact, many still believe that voting system for the Grammy Awards is structurally flawed and favors tastes of the past, rather than representing the pulse of today. As Jon Caramanica explained in the New York Times, “complaining about the Grammys is perennial and inevitable, because the structure of the award-giving, which is flawed, is also etched in stone: the representatives of yesteryear weighing in on the acts of today.” And some feel that selling power is weighed more heavily in a voter’s mind than the quality of the music. The proof is in the crop of influential, household names – think of a certain East Coast rapper who died too soon and a 90s boy band that induced many teenage tears — that haven’t yet received a small gold gramophone to put on their mantle, but nevertheless will likely be lauded for years to come. Stacker considered the group of solo artists and bands who haven’t received a Grammy and ranked each by their average monthly Wikipedia pageviews over the past year. Please note that since we used this metric, our ranking leans towards favoring musicians that are newer, or receiving more attention recently. For each artist, Stacker included Monthly Spotify listeners and number of Grammy nominations.
