Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga brought some Hollywood flare to Wednesday’s inauguration of Joe Biden.

Gaga, who actively supported the Biden-Harris ticket throughout the 2020 election cycle, took the stage in Washington D.C. to perform the National Anthem ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.

Wearing a large red skirt and golden dove broach, the pop star exchanged words with the newly elected president and vice president before launching into the “The Star-Spangled Banner” with a gold microphone, accompanied by the U.S. Marine Band. Gaga greeted the Obamas on her way off the podium before taking a seat on the inaugural stage.

Lopez, coming off a wave of major performances at the 2020 Super Bowl and headlining Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, also sang at the ceremony, performing a mashup of “This Land is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful” following Harris’ swearing in. She wore an all-white ensemble and said “one nation, with liberty and justice for all” in Spanish, while also throwing in a nod to her song “Let’s Get Loud.” Lopez left the stage after a moment with Harris, as Senator Amy Klobuchar joked, “This is the first time where JLo is the warmup act to Chief Justice Roberts,” who swore in Biden.

Garth Brooks took part in the inauguration as well, performing “Amazing Grace” following Biden’s swearing in and inaugural address. He asked the crowd to sing the last verse with him, but “not just the people here, the people at home, at work, as one, united.” Brooks removed his cowboy hat and shook hands with Biden, Harris and Pence following his song.

Amid the pandemic, the artists performed in front of a much smaller, masked crowd of politicians and family members to a largely empty and heavily protected National Mall, following Jan. 6’s attack on the Capitol. Vice President Pence and former presidents Obama, Clinton and Bush were among those in attendance.

Newly elected President Biden and Vice President Harris’ Presidential Inaugural Committee also have a star-studded primetime special Celebrating America set for tonight, airing at 8:30 p.m.  across five TV networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC) and online. The event will also stream on the committee’s YouTube and social media channels, Amazon Prime Video, Twitch and Fox’s NewsNOW.

The special, hosted by Tom Hanks, will include performances by Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Ant Clemons, and feature remarks from Biden and Harris in place of the traditional inauguration celebrations.
