Body of missing person recovered at Lake Havasu following kayaking incident
Deputies with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) have recovered the body of a man who went missing following a kayaking incident at Lake Havasu on Tuesday.
Authorities say the body of 55-year-old Larry Lee Curtis of Holbrook, Arizona, was recovered on Wednesday, December 28, following a one-day search.
The MCSO says their Boating Safety Division received emergency calls regarding a person in the water yelling for help near Site 6 of Lake Havasu.
Responding deputies located an adult male treading water and rescued him. The man informed deputies that he and a family member had gone kayaking on the lake when their boat capsized, and he had not seen the family member since the incident.
Both men were said to be in the water for some time and were getting tired and cold.

The rescued man told deputies he tried to swim to shore but couldn't due to the darkness, rain, and wind until the Sheriff's Watercraft rescued him about 30 minutes following the incident.
Medical personnel treated him on scene and refused transport to a hospital.
Deputies began searching efforts in the area but could not locate the missing man until Wednesday, when he was found near Site 6.
Wind, rain, and hazardous water conditions are a factor in this case, as well as the men not wearing proper life jackets at the time of the incident.
San Bernardino County Fire and the Lake Havasu City Police Department assisted the MCSO Division of Boating Safety with this incident.
