Man wanted for shooting 22-year-old to death in SE DC

WASHINGTON -- Police are searching for a 28-year-old man in connection to the shooting death of the of a 22-year-old in the District.

The suspect has been identified as Marcus Whitaker. He is described as a black male, approximately 5’11” in height, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

On July 27 around 9:50 p.m., police found 22 year-old David Hart suffering from gunshot wounds in the 4300 block of 4th Street in Southeast. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Whitaker is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder While Armed. He should be considered armed and dangerous. He can be seen in the photo below:

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Whitaker or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any Homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
