A Michigan mother will serve 30 days in jail after running her 9-year-old son over with her car.

Tiffany Kosakowski, 36, was reportedly dropping off her son at Chandler Woods Charter Academy last December, but the boy didn’t want to attend school and gripped the passenger side handle of his mom’s car, according to MLive.com

His mom then drove away from the curb — with her son still holding on.

“Ms. Kosakowski admitted to moving the steering wheel from left to right, then accelerating the vehicle knowing [her son] continued to be next to the vehicle,” court records read.

The boy was dragged nearly 50 yards before he let go of the door’s handle and was run over in the school’s parking lot.

He suffered a brain injury and several broken bones, and now reportedly needs around-the-clock care, according to court documents. According to the boy's father, John Rodriguez, doctors couldn't believe he survived the incident.

“Doctor’s words: ‘Your son is forever changed.’ He must grow into his disability," Rodriguez said at Kosakowski’s sentencing.

The judge, Curt Benson, said he’d received 30 letters from the community of people vouching for Kosakowski’s character, but he didn’t seem convinced.

“Of the 30 people who wrote the letters, I'll be quite blunt with you — I am not sure all of them would be as supportive, if they, like I, watched the security footage of this incident, which is simply inexcusable," Benson said. "It was really hard to watch, and I am not sure you would enjoy as much support as you evidently do, had that been widely distributed."

The mom pleaded guilty to reckless driving causing serious Injury in February and was sentenced to six months in jail with all except 30 days suspended. She will serve her 30 days on the weekends, as she requested, so that she can accompany her son to doctors' appointments during the week.

The boy and Kosakowski’s other child are in the custody of a relative, according to WZZM. A custody case is currently pending, according to reports.

"All I care about is being there for my son as he recovers and supporting him every day as I have been doing," Kosakowski said in court.
