Cowbells can tell you where to find a cow or a Tampa Bay Rays fan.

One, however, told Polk County deputies where to find a man who was breaking the law, the sheriff's office said.

The story, which the sheriff's office posted on Facebook, began Sunday when 46-year-old Jose Alberto Rosado of Lakeland, Fla., was driving on County Road 540A. He was dragging a cowbell from his trailer hitch.

The racket got the attention of a deputy, who started following Rosado. The deputy noticed his registration was expired.

After pulling over Rosado's vehicle, the deputy learned his license had been suspended for failing to pay fines from a hit-and-run crash. After being arrested, Rosado was found to have a substance believed to be K2, or synthetic marijuana, deputies said.

Rosado was charged with driving while license was suspended or revoked. He remained in jail Monday evening with bail set at $250.
