The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Co. made Lailah an honorary firefighter/paramedic for a day Thursday and drove her to Bedford Elementary School in a fire truck!

"They gave me a ride on a fire truck to school," Lailah said. "It was really cool and high, and when I was going by to here, everyone was like, 'Hi Lailah! Hi!' Everyone was like, 'Oh my God!' And I was like, 'Oh my God!'"

She responded to a fundraising letter from the fire company and donated $10.

"I put a letter in my own words and I gave them money of my own and I put it in an envelope and I said to my mom, 'Can you send this to the Pikesville fire department?'" Lailah said.

Little did she know how the fire company would respond.

So, I thought, I would like to do that because I haven't done something like that, and I didn't know it would turn out like this, but it did. I thought they would just give a thank you, not all this!" Lailah said.

Not only did she get a ride to school, but she received a fire company patch, a T-shirt and a fire helmet.
