Orlando Sentinel logoOrlando Sentinel 8/17/2018 Mark Blythe

Head out on the Kissimmee Chain at night for bass.

FRESHWATER: The Kissimmee Chain remains good at night and daybreak. Fish have been moving into shallow waters to feed at night, when waters are cooler. Try Senkos and Carolina or Texas-rigged plastic worms around grass beds, docks and lily pads. Switch to surface plugs and plastic frogs and lizards at daybreak. Lake Kissimmee and West Lake have been the most productive.

Mullet are thick in the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon.

SALTWATER: Look for bait pods in the Indian River or Mosquito Lagoon and use surface plugs at daybreak for a nice variety. Big schools of mullet are moving through the area and redfish, snook, jacks, bluefish, trout and tarpon are feeding on them.
