As the NFL continues its bid to make sure the Ezekiel Elliott six-game suspension sticks, it sure looks like the Dallas Cowboys running back will continue playing here over the short term.

According to NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart, the assumption is Elliott will suit up Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.

Remember, the NFL filed a motion earlier this month to overturn the temporary restraining order (TRO) Elliott and the NFLPA received in a Texas court to stay the six-game ban.

It’s not yet known when arguments will be heard in that specific case. But based on the timeline of previous court battles between the NFL and NFLPA, there’s a darn good chance Elliott will suit up throughout the 2017 season. While not going to as far to admit that, the league pretty much conceded he will play this upcoming Sunday.

Elliott recorded 130 yards on 29 touches in Dallas’ blowout 19-3 win over the New York Giants in Week 1. Having him on the field is obviously going to be huge for the defending NFC East champs against a stout Broncos defense in Week 2.
