Former Chinese president Jiang Zemin has died aged 96 due to leukemia and multiple organ failure in Shanghai on November 30. Jiang came to power in 1989 after the crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in Tiananmen square Under Jiang, China underwent significant economic reform, including joining the world trade organization in 2001.
