Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the last day of the carnival season and this year, it falls on February 17. The origins of the carnival, which is a major tourist draw in New Orleans, Louisiana, can be traced back to medieval Europe — from Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th century to France. In today’s times, the carnival is celebrated along the Gulf Coast with parties, balls and parades. The fun, frolic and frenzy has already rolled on to the streets of New Orleans. Check out the action-packed parades, colourful floats, and glitz and glamour of the carnival nights.
