Women march down the Fifth Avenue in New York City, New York, U.S., on Aug. 26, 50 years after the passage of the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote. The strike was organized by Betty Friedan, who worked for the National Organization for Women (NOW). Nearly 50,000 women took to Fifth Avenue, calling for "Strike for Equality," to stop working for a day to protest unequal pay.
