Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) was discharged from the hospital Saturday after he fell in his Washington apartment on Tuesday and fracturing four ribs.

Isakson has entered the inpatient rehabilitation program at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga., after being discharged from the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., according to a statement from his office.

The senator also suffers from Parkinson's disease, the symptoms of which could lengthen his recovery process.

"He is in good spirits and is determined to face this challenge head on so he can return to doing what he loves: representing Georgians in the Senate," the statement said.

Isakson said in he statement that he was recovering from the incident.

"I'm on the mend and looking forward to fully healing my fractured ribs through intensive rehabilitation," he said. "I thank everyone who has lifted me up through prayer and well-wishes."
