President Trump is doubling down on his criticism of "Parasite" as this year's best picture winner at the Academy Awards, saying he prefers to see American-made films honored.

"This year we had a movie, they said 'best movie' - they announced the movie from South Korea. I said what's that all about?" Trump said with a grin at a campaign rally Friday in Las Vegas.

"Parasite," a class warfare satire directed by Bong Joon-ho, made history earlier this month as the first non-English language film to win the top prize at the Oscars in the award show's 92-year run.

"Look, I get along great with South Korea," Trump continued, "but I've never seen that movie before. They used to call it 'best foreign movie.' Now we do it that way."

"I don't get it," he added. "But that's what it used to be. And this is really an incredible time, I'll tell you what, for our country. That's why I like to see things that we do get honored."

Trump's remarks came a day after he made similar statements at a Colorado rally.

"The winner is a movie from South Korea. What the hell was that all about? We've got enough problems with South Korea, with trade," the president said Thursday of the Academy Awards's big winner. "And after all that, they give them best movie of the year?"
