CIA honors Harriet Tubman as model spy with statue
Earlier this month, the Central Intelligence Agency unveiled a statue of Underground Railroad hero Harriet Tubman at its Virginia headquarters. She joins three other sculptures at agency headquarters – all of them white men. In addition to her time as a “conductor” for the Underground Railroad, Tubman also served as a spy for the Union Army in the Civil War. The statue is part of a series of events marking the CIA’s 75th anniversary.
