Secret Service arrests man accused of scaling barrier at White House

A man was arrested Friday afternoon after crossing a temporary barrier in front of the White House, the U.S. Secret Service said.

The incident occurred about 12:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

In a statement, the Secret Service said the man crossed the barrier on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue. He was taken into custody and was being processed at D.C.’s 2nd District police station.

The man’s name was not immediately disclosed; police said charges were being discussed Friday afternoon. The Secret Service declined further comment.
