Two people are hospitalized with critical injuries after a wrong-way driver collided head-on with another vehicle on Rt. 28 in Chantilly early Friday morning.

According to Lt. Christopher Sharp, spokesman for the Fairfax County Police Department, an apparent wrong-way driver travelling north in the southbound lanes of Rt. 28/Sully Rd. struck southbound vehicle at Westfields Blvd. shortly before 2:30 a.m.  The two drivers of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Right now the Fairfax County Crash Reconstruction Unit is on scene.  Their investigation has all but one right lane of traffic blocked at the crash scene, Fairfax Co. Police officials said.

Lt. Sharp says the investigation will impact rush hour, and drivers in the area should use alternate routes like Walney Rd.
