Bill Gates Vows To Give Away His Wealth

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has pledged to give away his wealth and “drop off” the world’s rich list. Gates made the pledge after announcing he was donating $20 billion to his philanthropic fund. Gates, currently the fourth richest man in the world, said he had an “obligation” to return his resources to society. Gates previously pledged to give away his wealth in 2010. Since then, his net worth has more than doubled to $118 billion. "As I look to the future, I plan to give virtually all of my wealth to the foundation. I will move down and eventually off of the list of the world’s richest people," Bill Gates. The Microsoft co-founder said the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will increase its spending to $9 billion a year by 2026. Gates added that he hopes others in positions of great wealth do similar.
