More than 60 animals seized in alleged animal abuse case in Sutter County
More than 60 animals were rescued from what was described as deplorable conditions in Sutter County this week. Police are investigating it as a case of animal abuse. A search and seizure warrant was executed Tuesday at a property on Sankey Road in Pleasant Grove east of Highway 99. With the combined efforts of the Sutter Animal Services Authority, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and Sutter County Code Enforcement, 63 animals were seized including 39 dogs, 13 horses, seven cats and four exotic birds. The sheriff's office arrested 50-year-old Lynette Countryman-Dunivan and 51-year-old Chad Dunivan in connection with the case. They face numerous felony charges, including animal abuse.
