Operation Warp Speed adviser on safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines
Dr. Moncef Slaoui, chief science adviser to Operation Warp Speed, said data indicates that the efficacy rates in both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are exceptionally high and robust. “Also on the safety side of things…adverse events…only last about one day, a day and a half. They are mostly pain at the injection site and some redness as well as a little bit of fever, some chills, some muscle ache, some headache. These happen in…about ten to fifteen percent of recipients of the vaccine…while we know the short term safety of these vaccines are understood…the very long term safety is not yet understood.”
