Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, said Wednesday that she will release a historical romance novel in August.

The 400-page book, titled “Her Heart for a Compass,” dips into the Duchess of York’s family history, presenting a fictionalized story about her great-great-aunt, Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott.

The book is Ferguson’s first novel for adults, though she has published children’s stories and self-help books.

“I’m going to take you back with the wonderful Mills & Boon, HarperCollins to 1870 to Lady Margaret,” Ferguson said in a video announcing the book release. “She loves to ride sidesaddle. She’s strong. She’s rebellious. She’s courageous.”

The novel, set in Victorian London, is due out Aug. 3. Ferguson wrote it with Marguerite Kaye, a historical romance writer.

Ferguson, the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, married Prince Andrew in the summer of 1986. The pair divorced in 1996.
