1801: The District of Columbia placed under the jurisdiction of Congress

U.S. Congress passed the District of Columbia Organic Act of 1801 which placed Washington D.C. under the jurisdiction of Congress. In particular, the Act placed the District of Columbia and the municipalities of Alexandria, Georgetown, and Washington under the jurisdiction of Congress.
