Wrong-way driver who struck Southern California law enforcement recruits fell asleep at the wheel, attorney says
Nicholas Gutierrez, 22, is accused of crossing the centerline of a South Whittier road last week and running into 25 recruits on a morning run. Investigators allege it was intentional; his attorney disputed that claim.
