A closer look at Medinah Country Club

Medinah Country Club, 25 miles outside of Chicago, is hosting the 2019 BMW Championship. It's the second of three 2019 FedEx Cup Playoff events. The club, established in 1924, has a championship pedigree. Medinah hosted a memorable, for the Europeans, Ryder Cup in 2012. The U.S. blew a 10-6 Sunday lead and coughed up the Cup. Tiger Woods won two PGA Championships at Medinah: 1999 and 2006. But other giants have been slain at the historic venue. Sam Snead lost the 1949 U.S. Open title to Cary Middlecoff. In the 1975 U.S. Open, Jack Nicklaus bogeyed the last 3 holes. Lou Graham then won in a playoff. In 1990, Hale Irwin, 45, became the oldest U.S. Open champion. Medinah has three courses, with No. 3 hosting the BMW.
