UPDATE NO. 53 (6:59 p.m. ET): Thomas' winner's bag:

UPDATE NO. 52 (6:58 p.m. ET): We do, too…

UPDATE NO. 52 (6:58 p.m. ET): Justin Thomas is your 2017 PGA Champion!! Congrats, JT!! Story:

UPDATE NO. 51 (6:56 p.m. ET): Kisner hooks it left, and JT is your 2017 PGA Champion!

UPDATE NO. 50 (6:54 p.m. ET): So cool.

UPDATE NO. 49 (6:50 p.m. ET): Kisner needs eagle at 18 to force playoff.

UPDATE NO. 48 (6:47 p.m. ET): JT is in at 8 under with a bogey. That's a 3-under 68 for Thomas. He has a two-shot lead. Kisner has to eagle 18 to force a playoff. Thomas will soon be a major champion.

UPDATE NO. 47 (6:45 p.m. ET): Thomas lags beautifully.

UPDATE NO. 46 (6:44 p.m. ET): Thomas is closing in…

He hits a good safe third shot. He'll have 25 feet for par. A two-putt from there should do it.

UPDATE NO. 45 (6:42 p.m. ET): A little trouble…

UPDATE NO. 44 (6:40 p.m. ET): Thomas' lead is now three after Kisner bogeys 16. But Thomas is in thick rough right and short of 18 green. That could be trouble, it's sitting down a little.

UPDATE NO. 43 (6:31 p.m. ET): Thomas sneaks in that birdie putt at 17. WHAT A 2!!

Thomas takes two-shot lead going to 18. He's 9 under. Bogey at 18 should do it. Par definitely will.

UPDATE NO. 42 (6:24 p.m. ET): That might be the tournament-winning shot for Thomas. Reed bogeys 18 to fall to 6 under and Thomas knocks one right in there at 17.

Kisner is still at 7 under one hole behind remember. Thomas 8 under, Matsuyama 6 under.

UPDATE NO. 41 (6:20 p.m. ET): Thomas gets up and down for par while Matsuyama bogeys. Kisner birdies 15 to move to -7.

So Thomas is -8, P Reed and Kiz are -7 and Matsuyama is -6.

UPDATE NO. 40 (6:16 p.m. ET): Don't forget Kiz! he birdies 14 and 15 and he's now one back at 7 under. This guy is tough, and the golf gods owe him from the 2015 Players.

UPDATE NO. 39 (6:14 p.m. ET): Reed's tee shot on 18 just misses. It rolls into the bunker on 18 and Reed will have 200 yards from fairway bunker. That's brutal. Thomas, meanwhile, knocks his bunker shot to 5 feet. He'll have that for par at 16.

Remember, Thomas leads by one.

UPDATE NO. 38 (6:07 p.m. ET): Gutsy. Patrick Reed rolls in that par putt and comes to 18 one behind. A par at the final hole would be huge. That 7 under number might hold up.

UPDATE NO. 37 (6:04 p.m. ET): Hideki Matsuyama rolls in a mid-range putt at 15 for birdie, and he's now 7 under and one back.

Thomas (-8) leads Reed and Matsuyama by one. Reed will have a 5-footer for par at 17 to stay at 7 under.

UPDATE NO. 36 (6:01 p.m. ET): Par-par for Thomas on Nos. 14-15. That's big for the field. Those are two birdie holes.

Now he comes to The Green Mile at 8 under just one ahead of Reed. Anything could happen here.

UPDATE NO. 35 (5:57 p.m. ET): Patrick Reed is looking so solid. He makes a really impressive two-putt from way downtown at 16 and is safely on the green at 17. No gimme two-putt, but with Thomas 50/50 to not birdie the easy 15th, Reed isn't looking too bad right now.

In case you forgot, Thomas is -8 while Reed is -7.

UPDATE NO. 34 (5:54 p.m. ET): Your new clubhouse leader: Francesco Molinari. He's in at 6 under thanks to a 67. He'll wait, but even 6 under now doesn't feel like enough.

UPDATE NO. 33 (5:45 p.m. ET): King Louis!!! He pitches in for eagle at 15 and he's now two back at 6 under!

UPDATE NO. 32 (5:43 p.m. ET): Thomas leaves one out there with a par at the 14th. A bad drive will do that.

He's still one ahead at 8 under, but that's a birdie hole. Matsuyama does indeed birdie to move to 6 under and within two.

UPDATE NO. 31 (5:31 p.m. ET): Patrick Reed's chips are a thing of beauty. He scoots one to tap-in range at No. 15 for birdie. He's now 7 under and just one back of Thomas … but JT does have 14 and 15 (two of the course's easiest holes) left while Reed is through them.

Reed will need something special on the Green Mile, probably.

UPDATE NO. 30 (5:31 p.m. ET): Justin. Thomas.

What a short game this man has. He's 8 under and leads by two.

UPDATE NO. 29 (5:29 p.m. ET): Rickie Fowler hits it into trouble at 18 and is forced to punch out. But he hits his third shot close and rolls one in for par.

That puts Fowler in with 67 and at 5 under. It's really unlikely that will be enough, but he should hang around in case.

UPDATE NO. 28 (5:25 p.m. ET): Welp. Justin Thomas is the solo leader after a bunch of bogeys from his co-leaders.

Thomas is alone at 7 under. Patrick Reed is among five in a tie for second at 6 under.

UPDATE NO. 27 (5:22 p.m. ET): Patrick Reed. One Back.

Birdie at 14, and oh man Captain America is 6 under and right in this!

UPDATE NO. 26 (5:19 p.m. ET): Jason Day with a solid finish, a lot better than yesterday, when he lost his shot to win.

UPDATE NO. 25 (5:16 p.m. ET): Fowler is still in this. He makes a gutsy par at No. 17 to stay at 5 under. Rolls in a big putt. He's going to need birdie at 18 to post 6 under.

It's unlikely that'll be enough for even a playoff, but this course is tough and that Green Mile lurks. You just never know.

UPDATE NO. 24 (5:13 p.m. ET): Francesco Molinari putts in from off the green at 15 for birdie and now he's 7 under.

Molinari, Thomas, Matsuyama, Kisner and Stroud all tied for the lead at 7 under. Five-way tie!

UPDATE NO. 23 (5:10 p.m. ET): Matsuyama bogeys No. 11 and Thomas now co-leads at 7 under along with Kisner and Stroud.

UPDATE NO. 22 (5:01 p.m. ET): Justin Thomas birdies No. 10 to get within one after a lonnnnnnnnng wait on the birdie putt. Incredible!

UPDATE NO. 21 (4:55 p.m. ET): Hideki Matsuyama takes back the solo lead with this excellent birdie at No. 10. This moves him to 8 under, Chris Stroud had moved to 7 under to tie the lead but now he's one back.

UPDATE NO. 20 (4:47 p.m. ET): Birdie. Birdie. Birdie. Birdie.

Rickie Fowler is suddenly 5 under and just two back after birdeing Nos. 12-15. He's onto the Green Mile, so this is a huge ask but two birdies and post at 7 under? It's possible that's enough! Heck, 6 under might do it. Who knows!

UPDATE NO. 19 (4:42 p.m. ET): Huge here for JT! He actually went on to hit it OVER the green in two.

UPDATE NO. 18 (4:32 p.m. ET): Justin Thomas from 36 feet!

He drains it for birdie to open in 1-under 34 and he's now just one back at 6 under!

UPDATE NO. 17 (4:30 p.m. ET): Rickie Fowler drives the green and ends up birdieing No. 14. That's three straight and he's suddenly 4 under and three back. If he can continue his hot streak to the finish, oh he could post a pretty interesting number. Get a -6 or -7 up early in the clubhouse, and you never know…

UPDATE NO. 16 (4:24 p.m. ET): Patrick Reed … so close to moving within one.

He rockets his second shot at the par-5 10th to inside 15 feet and the putt crawls over the right edge and trickles by. That close to eagle and 6 under. He does birdie, though, and is just two back at 5 under.

UPDATE NO. 15 (4:21 p.m. ET): Bogey for Kiz and after Matsuyama cleans up for par, the Japanese star leads by one at 7 under!

UPDATE NO. 14 (4:19 p.m. ET): Uh oh … Kiz finds the water on the par-5 seventh.

UPDATE NO. 13 (4:17 p.m. ET): Would rather be lucky than good. Grayson Murray is just three back.

UPDATE NO. 12 (4:13 p.m. ET): The Career Grand Slam will have to wait another year.

Jordan Spieth closes in 1-under 70 for a 2-over 286. He really never contended in this event. But he's 23 years old and already has three majors, so we can't imagine he's too upset.

UPDATE NO. 11 (4:08 p.m. ET): Nevermind! Hideki Matsuyama birdies Nos. 6 and 7 and he's tied for the lead at 7 under.

IT. IS. ON.

UPDATE NO. 10 (4:04 p.m. ET): Kisner with six straight pars has the solo lead still by one at 7 under.

UPDATE NO. 9 (3:45 p.m. ET): Kisner has company. Chris Stroud birdies No. 4 to move within one at 6 under. Matsuyama still two back at 5 under. He's through five holes.

UPDATE NO. 8 (3:30 p.m. ET): Jon Rahm!!! What a shot!

UPDATE NO. 7 (3:03 p.m. ET): The final group is off in the final round! Kisner pars No. 1 to retain one-shot lead. In the group ahead, Matsuyama proceeds to bogey the second to fall to 5 under. That means Kisner's lead has grown to two.

Leaderboard:

Kisner, -7

Matsuyama, -5

Thomas, -5

Stroud, -5

UPDATE NO. 6 (2:39 p.m. ET): Rickie Fowler has started with four pars, a birdie and a bogey to remain 1 under. He's six back as final groups approach.

UPDATE NO. 5 (2:13 p.m. ET): McIlroy is in with 3-under 68 and finishes the week at 1 over. Just a big disappointment from him on a course he loves. He's T-22 at the moment.

UPDATE NO. 4 (2:11 p.m. ET): You can't keep Poults silent!

UPDATE NO. 3 (1:40 p.m. ET): Fowler opens with par at No. 1 to stay 1 under and six back. Jason Day, meanwhile, birdies No. 1 to move within six. He nearly birdies No. 2 as well but the ball slides across the hole at the last second.

UPDATE NO. 2 (1:10 p.m. ET): Rory McIlroy has woken up … but way too late. The Northern Irishman has four birdies today, adding two at Nos. 14 and 15, to be 3 under for the round. But he is well out of this tournament. He's 1 over overall and still eight back.

UPDATE NO. 1 (12:10 p.m. ET): Welcome to the final round at Quail Hollow!

So far Dustin Johnson is 4 under in his round through 10 and even par total. He's just seven back, but yeah good finish, he won't win though.
