Rickie Fowler's stunning 458-yard drive nearly hit spectators walking on the fairway

Getty © Getty Getty Rickie Fowler isn't regarded as one of golf's most powerful drivers. He's ranked a modest 85th in driving distance this year and didn't crack the top 30 in 2017.

None of that matters because Rickie Fowler made a golf ball travel 458 freaking yards on Saturday at the Scottish Open. Fowler's drive traveled so far that spectators were allowed to cross the end of the fairway because nobody expected a Fowler to hit a golf ball 400-plus yards in that direction.

But he did, and the spectators had to scatter in real time.

And sure, the drive was absolutely made possible by the baked-out conditions that had the ball bouncing like it was landing on concrete in Gullane. I guess that's worth pointing out if you don't like fun.

Still, 458 yards is 458 yards. There's no discounting the sheer awesomeness of that drive.

Fowler would finish the tournament in a tie for sixth place at 14-under.
