After pulling out of last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational with a neck strain, Tiger Woods is back on the course this week at The Players Championship.

A two-time winner of golf's fifth major (2001, 2013), Woods has some momentum heading to TPC Sawgrass this weekend, even despite his recent injury. In three PGA Tour events this season, Woods has finished in the top-20 each time out, including a T-10 at last month's WGC-Mexico Championship.

The 80-time winner shot a 2-under 70 on Thursday afternoon alongside defending champion Webb Simpson and last year's Masters champion Patrick Reed.

Check out a shot-by-shot recap of Woods' round below.

Hole 18: Par 4, 472 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger tattoos this one down the right-center of the fairway. Great shot to end on off the tee.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger's second shot looked to land pin-high, 30-some feet from the hole, but caught the back edge and trickled off the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: He didn't have a lot of green to work with here, but his little bump-and-run went a tad further than we would have liked.

ON THE GREEN: With four feet left for par, Tiger missed this one left. He makes the comeback putt for bogey.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-under 70, T-34

Hole 17: Par 3, 121 yards

OFF THE TEE: After stepping off the shot, Tiger collected himself and stared it down because it JUST made it onto the green. He one-hopped onto the front edge, just missing the water, to set up a birdie putt from just outside 10 feet.

ON THE GREEN: No doubt about that one. Tiger birdies the troubling par-3, island green 17th hole.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3-under thru 17

Hole 16: Par 5, 516 yards

OFF THE TEE: Grip it. Rip it. Twirl it. Tiger crushed this drive on No. 16.

APPROACH SHOT: Because of his great tee shot, Tiger had a good look at the green and finds the dance floor in two for another eagle opportunity, this time from 40 feet.

ON THE GREEN: Tiger's eagle putt doesn't fall, but it stops within tap-in distance for a birdie.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-under thru 16

Hole 15: Par 4, 459 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger Woods is a man of the people. He decided to pay the gallery to the left of the fairway a visit with this tee shot on No. 15. His ball had other plans. It must've hit a tree, because it kicked back all the way across the fairway into the bunker on the right side. Crazy.

APPROACH SHOT: His shot from the beach finds the green, just outside 30 feet. This hole could have been a disaster, but because of a great kick he's got a chance at birdie.

ON THE GREEN: This one never really had a shot. He misses low and left. Lot of break on that putt and he didn't play enough. He cleans up for par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-under thru 15

Hole 14: Par 4, 464 yards

OFF THE TEE: Yikes. Tiger shanked this one right. Very right. That could be some trouble.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger took a massive cut at this one and finished with a high helicopter swing. He ran up the hill to get a look and wow, was this a great shot. He's about 15 yards short of the green in the fairway.

AROUND THE GREEN: Tiger was in his bag with this chip. He pitches this one up on the green, lets it bounce a few times before the hole, and he almost dunked it. It trickles past the hole, inside 10 feet.

ON THE GREEN: Good read on the break, but the speed didn't get it there. Bad tee shot leads to a bogey and another crucial dropped shot.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-under thru 14.

Hole 13: Par 3, 161 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger's tee shot finds the front edge of the green, about 20-plus feet from the cup.

ON THE GREEN: Bang! That's three birdies in four holes for Tiger to start the back.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-under thru 13.

Hole 12: Par 4, 317 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger hit a beauty off the tee with a fairway metal and found the green. He's dancing with an eagle putt awaiting.

ON THE GREEN: Tiger's eagle putt was breaking right at the hole but just misses high and right. He taps in for a great bounce-back birdie after the bogey on No. 11.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-under thru 12.

Hole 11: Par 5, 539 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tigers drive here finds the first cut of rough. No problem.

SECOND SHOT: There's no other way to say it: this was awful. Just a bad shot. Tiger found the middle of the water guarding the right side of the hole (splash).

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger's fourth shot after the penalty stroke is pretty solid. He went right at the front pin that's guarded by a bunker and left the ball inside 10 feet for a chance to save par.

ON THE GREEN: This putt had a little right-to-left action and Tiger just couldn't find the cup. Tough bogey after a birdie on No. 10.

Hole 10: Par 4, 429 yards

OFF THE TEE: Nice shot to start the back-nine here for Tiger. He's down the right side of the fairway on a small hill.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger's caddie says "show me a little touch" and did he ever. From 181 yards, Tiger drops this one on the green and inside 20 feet. Nice.

ON THE GREEN: Here we go! Tiger plays the speed perfectly and this one tracks its way into the cup to get under par. Great putt.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-under thru 10.

Hole 9: Par 5, 575 yards

OFF THE TEE: Driver right down the middle. Now it's decision time … to go for it or not.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger pulled the 3-wood and went a little long and right. He's in the rough to the right of the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: Tiger had a decent lie from the rough and floated this one into the air, landing it a few feet before the cup. It rolled a little further than he would've liked, but that's a birdie putt to close out the front.

ON THE GREEN: This one *just* misses the left edge. Tough miss. Par again.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 9. Front nine stats: 5/7 fairways, 6/9 greens, 15 putts.

Hole 8: Par 3, 233 yards

OFF THE TEE: Iron here for Tiger and he's well short of the pin. He's just on the edge of the front of the green, with the pin located in the back-right.

AROUND THE GREEN: From just off the green Tiger goes with the putter, but he's got quite a bit of green to cover. Fantastic effort here, as he plays the left-to-right break just about perfect. His pace to go up, then down, a slope to the green was just a bit too much, but his putt stops just beyond the hole for a good chance to save par.

ON THE GREEN: Nothing to see here. Par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 8.

Hole 7: Par 4, 450 yards

OFF THE TEE: Hubba-hubba. That was a gorgeous shot from Tiger, who played a little cut into the wind. He's in the fairway and in great position to score.

APPROACH SHOT: TW played this one just about perfectly, finding the green just beneath the hole, about 15 feet from the hole for birdie.

ON THE GREEN: Never a doubt here. Tiger hammers in the birdie putt that had some cheeky movement to get his first birdie of the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 7.

Hole 6: Par 4, 378 yards

OFF THE TEE: Iron off the tee here for Tiger, and it's his trademark low-flying stinger that finds the left side of the fairway.

APPROACH SHOT: After some choice words for the wind, Tiger's approach shot finds the green, about 30-ish feet left of the pin.

ON THE GREEN: Man, that should have gone in. Tiger's putt had a great line, but just pumps the brakes before hitting the edge. Par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over thru 6.

Hole 5: Par 4, 456 yards

OFF THE TEE: YAHTZEE! Tiger bombs a driver off the tee on No. 5.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger plays this one into the wind, but safely finds the center of the green with a good look at birdie. Nice shot there against the elements.

ON THE GREEN: Not a bad putt here, just not enough juice to catch the hole. Another par. Moving on.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over thru 5.

Hole 4: Par 4, 391 yards

OFF THE TEE: B-E-A-utiful. Tiger stripes a 3-wood off the tee and finds the center of the fairway.

APPROACH SHOT: "Don't do that, don't! Stay right there."

Tiger was talking to his ball that came up short of the pin, just sitting on a slope that could have carried his shot down to the front of the green.

ON THE GREEN: He had to take his putt almost off the green because of his angle to the cup and the green's shape. Due to the slope and break, he couldn't go for the birdie and just had to set up a par from three feet.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over thru 4.

Hole 3: Par 3, 176 yards

OFF THE TEE: Well, this wasn't too great either. Tiger was on the right line with his tee shot, but comes up short. His ball rolled down a slope, and now he'll have a tricky pitch uphill to the pin with not a whole lot of green to work with.

AROUND THE GREEN: Well, he had to take his medicine here. He wasn't able to attack the flag and go for it, but instead played it safe and tried to just find the middle of the green. His ball actually almost rolled off the green.

ON THE GREEN: From the edge his putt lags its way along a slope on the green to about three feet. He cleans up the bogey and drops his first shot of the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over thru 3.

Hole 2: Par 5, 536 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger was not a fan of this one, and he shouldn't be. He misses left again, but this time gets a little kick from the trees into the rough.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger was forced to layup on the par-5, finding the left fairway near the green. He should have a good angle at the hole from there. He went pin-seeking from just inside 150 yards and found the green, inside 10 feet for a birdie putt.

ON THE GREEN: Little too much juice here from Tiger who slides the birdie putt by the hole. He cleans up for par and moves on.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Event thru 2.

Hole 1: Par 4, 415 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger's first shot of the tournament misses the fairway to the left.

APPROACH SHOT: Nothing he could really do here to get it close. Tiger plays his approach shot conservatively and finds the green, 30-plus feet long and to the right of the cup.

ON THE GREEN: Looks like he had the right idea, just couldn't put it all together. He lags his putt to tap-in distance and cleans up his par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 1.
