Tiger Woods was able to post a 3-under 69 on Saturday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It appears he will enter Sunday still with a small chance to earn his 80th PGA Tour win as he’s 7 under overall and will probably be around five shots back.

We tracked Woods’ third round shot by shot. Catch up with what you may’ve missed below…

Hole No. 18: Par 4, 458 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:23 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes out 3-wood, and that's a rocket down the left side of the fairway. A brilliant drive and he puts himself in good position for a potential closing birdie.

APPROACH SHOT (4:28 p.m. ET):

Yeah, that was a ho-hum 323-yard drive with a 3-wood. That leaves him just 130 yards in, and he takes advantage. This ball lands about 8 feet beyond the pin and stays there. A great look for a closing birdie and a 3-under 69.

ON THE GREEN (4:33 p.m. ET):

OH YEAH! We are REVVED. UP. Tiger drains what was actually a 12-footer and gives it a fist pump. That closing birdie gives him a 3-under 69. He reached the clubhouse four back and in the top 10. He is not out of this tournament!

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3-under 69 (-7 overall, T-9)

Hole No. 17: Par 3, 223 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:12 p.m. ET):

A 5-iron here for Tiger and that one looked right all the way. That ball lands in the bunker right of the green. And oh no, that's a fried egg. He has some green to work with as the pin is back-left. So he's not dead, but this will take a lot of touch. For now, Tiger is within four.

AROUND THE GREEN (4:16 p.m. ET):

Yeah, you can't blame Tiger on that one. He makes sure the ball gets out, but with no way to stop it. TW runs that one past the hole and just off the green. He'll have about 20 feet from the fairway for par.

ON THE GREEN (4:19 p.m. ET):

Oh, that was a good effort. But no dice. The ball takes the right-to-left break a little too late and just misses right. He taps in for a disappointing bogey

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 17 (-6 overall, T-11)

Hole No. 16: Par 5, 519 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:54 p.m. ET):

A driver here from TW, and that's a push. This one is right by about 10 yards the whole way and ends up in a fairway bunker. It really all depends on the lie and how close the lip is to tell if he can still go for this in two.

APPROACH SHOT (4:01 p.m. ET):

WOW. Tiger had a decent lie, but was up close to a small lip. He went for it from 209 yards, and REALLY pulled it off. The ball lands 10 feet short and right of the hole and rolls to about 15 feet beyond the cup. He absolutely has a makeable eagle putt upcoming.

ON THE GREEN (4:08 p.m. ET):

Wow that was a poor first putt. That was low and right by a full foot and then trickled some 4 feet by. And ooooooh, the comebacker went right but it catches the right edge and curls in. That's a two-putt birdie, barely. But hey, a birdie is a birdie.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

3 under thru 16 (-7 overall, T-10)

Hole No. 15: Par 4, 463 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:39 p.m. ET):

A 3-wood for Tiger off this tee. He stared at this anxiously for a long time, but it's just fine. The ball lands in the right side of the fairway, lands on a downslope and kicks and rolls some 30 yards forward and left into the left side of the fairway. Some nice position here.

APPROACH SHOT (3:44 p.m. ET):

A 7-iron from 174 yards, and good distance here but it's well left of this front-right pin. This ball lands and finishes about pin-high but is 30 feet left. So a birdie putt upcoming, but not exactly one you'd expect to make.

ON THE GREEN (3:51 p.m. ET):

That birdie attempt from 38 feet was left because Tiger hit it too hard and it didn't take the break back right. That ball races 3 feet beyond the cup. Tiger does make the comebacker for par, though.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 15 (-6 overall, T-12)

Hole No. 14: Par 3, 214 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:30 p.m. ET):

A 5-iron for TW, and oof that comes up short. He plays a draw with the pin back-left but the ball lands in front of and right of the green and kicks down into a valley right of the surface. That wasn't very good. Tons of green to work with on this short-game shot.

AROUND THE GREEN (3:34 p.m. ET):

Tiger pitches from there, and this one is decent, as the ball rolls about 8 feet beyond the cup. He can still salvage a par, but obviously he's far from tap-in range.

ON THE GREEN (3:36 p.m. ET):

Yeah, Tiger always makes these. He feathered that left-to-right sldier right into the cup. That's an important par save. Tiger is running out of holes, but a couple more birdies coming in could put him in a reasonable position heading into Sunday.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 14 (-6 overall, T-13)

Hole No. 13: Par 4, 370 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:18 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes iron again off the tee. This one is a beauty down the right side of the fairway. He'll have somewhere under 150 yards in.

APPROACH SHOT (3:21 p.m. ET):

Tiger with a wedge from roughly 125 yards and man that would've been good if it spun back, but it doesn't. This ball lands left and beyond the flag some 20 feet and just sticks there. If he got backspin, that ball would've curved left and back toward that pin. But it stays, and he'll have to settle for a 20-footer for birdie.

ON THE GREEN (3:25 p.m. ET):

That 20-footer for birdie … dead in the heart but 6 inches short. Man, that was a good putt, just the wrong speed. No moral victories, that's a par and he's still six back.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 13 (-6 overall, T-13)

Hole No. 12: Par 5, 573 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:57 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes driver here and it leaks right, but he does like it. Good call. This drive lands in the right rough, but it kicks left and forward into the intermediate cut. That ball carried 285 yards, and went about 290 total. As he's in the intermediate, Tiger should be able to go for this from likely something around 275 yards out.

SECOND SHOT (3:04 p.m. ET):

That drive actually went 303, leaving him 268 yards in. How'd he do from there? He tries to feather a cut in there with a 2-iron and this one is left. The ball flies into the front left greenside bunker. That leaves him a 20-yard bunker shot to a back pin for his third. That's a tricky one upcoming, but it's doable.

AROUND THE GREEN (3:11 p.m. ET):

That was very average. This ball lands about 35 feet short and rolls out to 20-25 feet below the hole. After being able to go for this one in two, that's certainly a longer birdie putt than he wanted here.

ON THE GREEN (3:13 p.m. ET):

A good run at this one, but it was a bit right the whole way. The ball finishes a few inches right of the cup and beyond. Tiger taps in, and that's par. But he doesn't like those on par 5s.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 12 (-6 overall, T-13)

Hole No. 11: Par 4, 443 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:39 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes iron off the tee here, and that flirted with the right fairway bunker, but it's just fine now. The ball lands on the right side of the fairway and bounces forward about 40 yards, skirting just left of that bunker and staying in the fairway.

APPROACH SHOT (2:44 p.m. ET):

That is what he needed. Tiger lands this one from 185 yards maybe 10 feet left of the pin, and the ball kicks just right and forward and comes to rest about 8 feet from the cup. This upcoming birdie putt isn't a must-make, but this could really be a kick-starter.

ON THE GREEN (2:49 p.m. ET):

YEP. Walked it in! That was a huge putt from 9.5 feet. He's now six back and coming to a par 5.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 11 (-6 overall, T-10)

Hole No. 10: Par 4, 383 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:26 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes iron out here and finds the left side of the fairway. Good stuff. With low scores out there today and TW still seven back, he's got to be thinking 30 or 31 on this side, no? He needs some sort of run on the back nine to really be in contention heading into Sunday.

APPROACH SHOT (2:30 p.m. ET):

This one won't give Tiger trouble, but he doesn't leave himself a great look. Tiger goes right and long of the flag, and he'll have 30 feet for birdie here.

ON THE GREEN (2:34 p.m. ET):

That looked like a total misread. He started that ball left of the hole and it broke left. His ball trickles 3 feet past the cup. But he has no problem on the remainder for par.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

1 under thru 10 (-5 overall, T-15)

Hole No. 9: Par 4, 474 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:10 p.m. ET):

Tiger pummels driver down the right side here. That goes 310+. Yes, the ball trickled into the right intermediate, but he'll have a great look into a front-left pin.

APPROACH SHOT (2:14 p.m. ET):

Tiger got aggressive there, as he should've and it's a good but not great result. The ball landed just a few feet beyond the pin, but rolled out to 15 feet past. He'll have a solid look at birdie, but this ball isn't stiff or anything.

ON THE GREEN (2:19 p.m. ET):

Tiger looked at that one for a long time, but the putt doesn't drop. That one swung left to right and dove across the hole to the right late. He ran it 3 feet by but cleaned up for par. Three birdies and two bogeys on this front nine for Tiger. Good, but he needs better on the back to have a chance heading into Sunday as he still sits seven back. Stats: 4/7 fairways, 6/9 GIR, 14 putts

TIGER ON THE DAY:

1 under thru 9 (-5 overall, T-14)

Hole No. 8: Par 4, 460 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:54 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes 3-wood off this tee and loses it a few yards right. Nothing too awful, but this is enough of a miss to finish up in the right rough. We'll see what he's got left after we know his lie and if trees are in his way.

SECOND SHOT (1:56 p.m. ET):

Tiger was forced to punch out of the rough here. He gets back into the fairway and will have a wedge third.

THIRD SHOT (2 p.m. ET):

Tiger's in business for a potential par save. He expertly crafts a wedge from 114 yards about 10 feet under the hole. He still has plenty of work to save par, but he's given himself a good look.

ON THE GREEN (2:05 p.m. ET):

That was well struck, but Tiger misses right. He played that for like 6 inches of right-to-left, and it came back a few but just slid by on the right side. He taps in, but it's a bogey. And that's a dent after some nice momentum from a birdie run.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

1 under thru 8 (-5 overall, T-14)

Hole No. 7: Par 3, 186 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:45 p.m. ET):

Tiger takes 7-iron and this one is perfectly played 15 feet left of a tucked front-right flag. A second straight hole where he'll have around 15 feet for birdie. If that one drops, this place is going to explode.

ON THE GREEN (1:50 p.m. ET):

Tiger misses low. That was a left-to-right slider and he didn't put enough pace on this one to keep the ball from going low. Oh well. The ball harmlessly slides 6 inches under, and he taps in for par.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 7 (-6 overall, T-9)

Hole No. 6: Par 5, 555 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:27 p.m. ET):

Tiger goes driver here, and it's his first missed fairway of the day. He played a fade here, but a little too much of it. On this par 5 that horseshoes around a lake, his ball bounds through the fairway into the right rough. It's a 300-yard drive, but that ball burrowed down. It's pretty much a lay up coming from here.

SECOND SHOT (1:32 p.m. ET):

That lie looked really bad, and Tiger hacks out. Not a great lay up as the ball leaks right and into the intermediate cut. But he'll still have a wedge in, and he's not in the primary rough.

THIRD SHOT (1:35 p.m. ET):

Tiger had 90 yards from the intermediate on the right, and he got aggressive with that one. The ball lands about 10 feet left and long of the front-left pin (remember water is left) and trickles to about 15 feet from the cup. His distance control wasn't spot on there, but pretty good. Solid birdie look coming.

ON THE GREEN (1:41 p.m. ET):

OH YEAH! Another one. That was always going in the center. That's three birdies in four holes, and Tiger is now in the top 10 and just five back. Tiger's putter is HOT.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

2 under thru 6 (-6 overall, T-7)

Hole No. 5: Par 4, 390 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:12 p.m. ET):

Iron off the tee on this short par 4, and it's a beauty down the left side of the fairway. Great positioning, too, as the pin is back-right.

APPROACH SHOT (1:16 p.m. ET):

And yeah, that was terrible. Looked like a double-cross from Tiger with that 8-iron, as he appeared to be going for a fade and instead got a draw that carried into the back left bunker. If the lie is OK, this isn't a tough up and down as he'll have plenty of green to work with. Scrambling for par on this hole isn't great though when you hit it in the fairway.

AROUND THE GREEN (1:18 p.m. ET):

That was textbook. Tiger was on the downslope a bit, so he had to play a chunk and run that landed on the fringe and rolled out all the way to the hole. Yep, it came out perfectly. The ball did just that and finished about 18 inches beyond the hole. This will be a par.

ON THE GREEN (1:22 p.m. ET):

Tiger indeed taps in. Important par 5 coming up.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

1 under thru 5 (-5 overall, T-13)

Hole No. 4: Par 5, 565 yards

OFF THE TEE (12:54 p.m. ET):

Driver here from TW, and that is Right. Down. The. Middle. Yes, he can go for this one in two. A lot better than yesterday, when he almost went OB.

APPROACH SHOT (1:01 p.m. ET):

Tiger had 254 yards in with 3-iron and he does not like it. That ball faded too much and misses the green right. The pin is back-right, so he's short-sided too. It actually doesn't look like an impossible chip/pitch upcoming, but he'll need plenty of finesse to get this up and down.

AROUND THE GREEN (1:05 p.m. ET):

That was an interesting shot, but it works out pretty well. Tiger was below the level of the green, bumps the ball into the uphill slope in front, the ball takes a huge kick up and rolls forward, running about 5 feet past the cup. No gimme for birdie, but a short one upcoming.

ON THE GREEN (1:08 p.m. ET):

Tiger curls that one in the right side, and we have back-to-back birdies. We're in business, people! Six back.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

1 under thru 4 (-5 overall, T-12)

Hole No. 3: Par 4, 434 yards

OFF THE TEE (12:43 p.m. ET):

This is a low bullet 2-iron, and yes he really likes it. As he should. This one is perfect down the middle. He'll have less than 150 yards in.

APPROACH SHOT (12:47 p.m. ET):

He could've done better. Tiger had 133 yards and could play a nice draw into this pin. He tried, but the ball hung right and he dumps this about 30 feet right and long of the pin. He should two-putt for par from there, but after that tee shot, that's not what he was looking for.

ON THE GREEN (12:51 p.m. ET):

Actually, that was 38 feet, but … BURIED IT. Such a speedy putt, but Tiger drizzles that right in the heart. Birdie, and he's back to even today with two par 5s coming up.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

Even thru 3 (-4 overall, T-21)

Hole No. 2: Par 3, 231 yards

OFF THE TEE (12:28 p.m. ET):

Tiger off the tee … front bunker here. He'll need to put his short game to use early on this day.

AROUND THE GREEN (12:32 p.m. ET):

Not his best. Tiger comes up 10 feet short on that bunker blast. He needs to make this to avoid an early bogey.

ON THE GREEN (12:37 p.m. ET):

And that was never on line. Always right, and Tiger misses that par putt. He taps in from there, but it's an early bogey. Again.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

1 over thru 2 (-3 overall, T-30)

Hole No. 1: Par 4, 461 yards

OFF THE TEE (12:15 p.m. ET):

Tiger hits an iron off this tee, and it's a beauty right down the middle. Much better start than his hook yesterday.

APPROACH SHOT (12:20 p.m. ET):

We could be in business. Tiger knocks this one about 15 feet right of the pin, and he'll have a good look at birdie.

ON THE GREEN (12:25 p.m. ET):

Nope. That one slips by on the right edge, and Tiger opens with par.

TIGER ON THE DAY:

Even thru 1 (-4 overall, T-20)

UPDATE No. 3 (3:47 p.m. ET): Bryson DeChambeau is the solo leader at 12 under after Stenson bogeys No. 8 to fall to 11 under. That ends a streak of 29 straight holes without a bogey. Anyway, Bryson is in front alone with 10 to play in Round 3!

UPDATE No. 2 (3:32 p.m. ET): Bryson DeChambeau and Henrik Stenson are still tied for the lead at 12 under. But here comes Justin Rose. He birdies 12 and 13 to move to 9 under. He's -5 on the day and just three back.

UPDATE No. 1 (2:25 p.m. ET): Bryson DeChambeau buries a long birdie putt at No. 2. The 36-hole co-leader was one back after Henrik Stenson opened with birdie. But now the pair is tied again at 12 under.
