Tiger Woods shot 1-over 72 in a final round that began with plenty of promise. Woods teed off on No. 10 and holed out from a bunker at No. 16 for his third birdie through seven holes.

That would be his final birdie of the day and he played his remaining 10 holes at 4 over. It seemed at least in part a result of the wild schedule, with Woods squeezing 72 holes into three days. He was T-18 when he finished for a chance at his second consecutive top-20 result to start the season.

Here's a shot by shot recap of his final round at Riviera.

Hole 9: Par 4, 457 yards

OFF THE TEE (5:59 p.m.): Final tee shot of the week is a good one, 300-plus in the fairway.

APPROACH SHOT (6:03 p.m.): Nicely done. Put it to 15 feet from about 160 yards out and Woods always seems to finish these things on a high note. Don't be surprised if he drains this for a closing birdie.

ON THE GREEN (6:07 p.m.): So much for that. Never really gave it a chance and he finishes up a disappointing afternoon with par there. Couldn't keep it rolling down the stretch but overall he's gotta be very pleased with how he played this week.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over 72 (6 under overall)

Hole 8: Par 4, 413 yards

OFF THE TEE (5:45 p.m.): Solid drive up the left side of the fairway. Only 115 yards left, maybe a chance at one more parting birdie before turning his focus to next week's WGC-Mexico Championship.

APPROACH SHOT (5:48 p.m.): Tosses a sand wedge into the green and it nearly rolls off the false front. Did hang on though and Woods will have his best birdie look in quite a while.

ON THE GREEN (5:56 p.m.): Not Woods' afternoon. Left that birdie try hanging by a dimple and cleans up for par. One hole left in what's been a really wild week.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 17 (6 under overall)

Hole 7: Par 4, 401 yards

OFF THE TEE (5:25 p.m.): Finds the left side of the fairway and will have about 147 yards from there. Good opportunity to get one back late.

APPROACH SHOT (5:29 p.m.): Wind carried that shot quite a bit, well past the flagstick. Safely on the green and putting.

ON THE GREEN (5:37 p.m.): Yikes. Left the birdie try well short and looks like a man who wants to get off the course ASAP. But he makes the par putt for a slight boost.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 16 (6 under overall)

Hole 6: Par 3, 198 yards

OFF THE TEE (5:13 p.m.): Misses left of the green with a 5-iron, gonna be another grind for par from there. He's been running out of steam for a while now with three bogeys over his last four holes.

AROUND THE GREEN (5:20 p.m.): Got a little aggressive with that one and chipped it six feet past the hole. Drained that one for par to steady the ship with three holes remaining.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 15 (6 under overall)

Hole 5: Par 4, 419 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:48 p.m.): Stinger with the 3-wood and there's a good one, middle of the fairway. Chance to do something with a short iron.

APPROACH SHOT (4:55 p.m.): Took a little off a 7-iron and it was well-struck, hole high and left of the flagstick. Birdie chance on deck.

ON THE GREEN (5:03 p.m.): Missed the birdie putt below the hole. Par putt from inside three feet hits the cup and bounces out for a gut-punch bogey. The early-morning fireworks have been replaced by some bogeys this afternoon.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 14 (6 under overall)

Hole 4: Par 3, 223 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:38 p.m.): Goes over the green with a 5-wood but that's not bad here. Just on the back fringe and should be able to give it a run at least.

ON THE GREEN (4:46 p.m.): Nearly got that one to fall, leaves it maybe two inches short and taps in for par to stop the bleeding. Five holes to go now, still a good chance to pick up a top 10 this week.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 13 (7 under overall)

Hole 3: Par 4, 431 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:20 p.m.): Another tee shot finds the thick stuff and this is starting to look like it'll be a grind to the finish. Just fell back to T-12 overall and looking for his first top-10 finish at Riv since 2004.

APPROACH SHOT (4:24 p.m.): Pretty good from the rough. Wasn't able to attack it and has a mile to go for birdie but he's on the green and out of trouble.

ON THE GREEN (4:32 p.m.): His lag putt went a good 10 feet past the hole and now scrambling to save par. Missed the comebacker for a second consecutive bogey. Just looks deflated at the moment, that's five consecutive 5s on the scorecard.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 12 (7 under overall)

Hole 2: Par 4, 471 yards

OFF THE TEE (4 p.m.): Missed to the right, looked like it caught a tree and dropped straight down into the rough. All these long days might be catching up to him - said he would have to set his alarm for 2-3 a.m. local time ahead of the 7:45 a.m. restart this morning.

APPROACH SHOT (4:05 p.m.): Things have taken a turn for the worse. Hit 5-wood out of the rough and went ridiculously far left. On the bright side, it's always so intriguing to watch Woods play unusual shots from weird lies and we've got a textbook 'what in the world do you do here' shot coming up. Enjoy.

AROUND THE GREEN (4:15 p.m.): That thing ended up 54 yards left of the hole and there wasn't much he could do with it. Chipped it through the green and onto the fringe so we're looking at a really long par putt.

ON THE GREEN (4:16 p.m.): Misses the long one and cleans up for bogey. That's four 5s in a row on the scorecard and Tiger is going to be kicking himself with Justin Thomas falling back and the lead now 15 under. Left a ton of strokes out there this week.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under thru 11 (8 under overall)

Hole 1: Par 5, 495 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:49 p.m.): Absolutely hammered that one. Drove it 323 yards and will have just 165 yards remaining.

APPROACH SHOT (3:50 p.m.): Wasn't able to take advantage of the drive, which rolled through the fairway into rough. Came out weird with a 9-iron and the approach is short of the green. Chipping from there.

AROUND THE GREEN (3:55 p.m.): Another chunky wedge short of the intended landing area, just barely cleared the fringe.

ON THE GREEN (3:56 p.m.): Birdie try doesn't go and that's a killer par, especially after the tee shot. Tiger said earlier this week this hole plays like a par 4.5 and won't be happy about that one.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2 under thru 10 (9 under overall)

Hole 18: Par 4, 470 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:23 p.m.): That's trouble. Way right, past the cart path and just outside of a tent that sells Texas-style BBQ in a beer garden atmosphere, according to the Genesis Open website. Now also featuring views of Tiger Woods recovery shots.

APPROACH SHOT (3:26 p.m.): Had to hit a big spinning cut there and it barely got through the trees, ended up on the large slope near the green. Adventurous trip up 18 today.

AROUND THE GREEN (3:37 p.m.): Yikes. Tough lie chipping downhill and Tiger can't get it there. Now hoping to get out of here with a bogey at worst.

ON THE GREEN (3:38 pm.): Second chip goes much more smoothly and he's in there for a tap-in bogey.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 2 under thru 9 (9 under overall)

Hole 17: Par 5, 584 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:02 p.m.): Another good one. Caught his breath after that bunker hole-out and puts one 300-plus in the fairway. Might be able to give this one a go from 279 yards out, we'll see how he plays it. Great chance for another birdie either way.

APPROACH SHOT (3:09 p.m.): Gives it a go with what looks like 5-wood, couldn't tell if that ended up in greenside bunker or not, but either way it'll be a pretty straightforward up-and-down for birdie.

AROUND THE GREEN (3:14 p.m.): Didn't chip that one close, rolls through the green and onto the fringe. Has not birdied 17 this week and it'll be a tall order to do it now with that leave.

ON THE GREEN (3:17 p.m.): Not a bad effort but birdie putt misses. Another par with hole to go before the turn.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3 under thru 8 (10 under overall)

Hole 16: Par 3, 161 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:52 p.m.): Whoops. Lost that one to the right and he's going to have a difficult up and down from the bunker. Also worth nothing he's moved up to T-7 on the leaderboard. Won't be able to catch Thomas barring a miracle but there's no shortage of optimism with this performance.

ON THE GREEN (2:57 p.m.): HOLED IT. Just a perfect bunker shot that looked good the whole way and curled in beautifully. How many highlights is that over the past 27 holes or so? Special.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3 under thru 7 (10 under overall)

Hole 15: Par 4, 479 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:36 p.m.): Solid again with the driver and he's in the middle of the fairway. This hole is a beast though, still has a long ways to go into the wind. Probably would be happy with par here given the conditions.

APPROACH SHOT (2:43 p.m.): That will work. Had 193 yards left and put it on the green about 18 feet from the cup. You'll definitely take that on this hole and a birdie would be stealing one.

ON THE GREEN (2:49 p.m.): Put a little too much thought into that one. Not a great effort on the birdie putt but overall a very solid par. Onward.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2 under thru 6 (9 under overall)

Hole 14: Par 3, 181 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:25 p.m.): Throwing. Darts. That thing was all over the pin with a 6-iron, one of those shots where you can hear the buzz from the gallery build as it's in the air. Looks like just two or three feet max.

ON THE GREEN (2:33 p.m.): Perfect. Tee shot doesn't go to waste as Tiger drops his birdie putt. He's having some kind of weekend after grinding to make the cut on Friday.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2 under thru 5 (9 under overall)

Hole 13: Par 4, 454 yards

OFF THE TEE (2:08 p.m.): Got a little driver twirl on that one and another tee ball in the fairway. Caddie Joe LaCava said at Torrey Pines that he thinks hitting fairways with more regularity will be Woods' biggest improvement in 2019 and we're definitely seeing it this week. Put in a lot of work with the driver over the offseason.

APPROACH SHOT (2:14 p.m.): Goes with a 6-iron from 171 yards and that's all over it. Lands and stops just above the hole and we're looking at serious birdie potential here.

ON THE GREEN (2:20 a.m.): Missed a strong opportunity there. Had 15 feet with a lot of break and curled it past the cup. No problem with the par putt though and we're on to the next.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under thru 4 (8 under overall)

Hole 12: Par 4, 467 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:55 p.m.): The fans duck for cover as Woods misses with driver into the right rough. Gonna have some trees and a mass of humanity to deal with but we'll see if he can find an angle.

APPROACH SHOT (1:58 p.m.): Lie actually wasn't too bad from 190 yards out and he hits a cut somewhere in the vicinity of the green. Tough angle. Needs to get up and down from there to save par.

AROUND THE GREEN (2:01 p.m.): Woods had a tree blocking his path to cup so he had to actually hook a chip shot around the tree, which is nearly impossible to do from close range. Came out perfectly, spun left on the green and he almost holed it. That's just phenomenal. So much fun to watch Woods try and figure out what to do from tricky lies and tight spots and he rarely disappoints.

ON THE GREEN (2:05 p.m.): Taps in for par on what was a tremendous up and down from behind the tree. Onward.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under thru 3 (8 under overall)

Hole 11: Par 5, 585 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:30 p.m.): Good swing with the driver there. Immediate tee pick-up and he's on the right side of the fairway. Has a chance to hop back on the birdie train here.

APPPROACH SHOT (1:38 p.m.): That'll be just fine. Pounds a fairway wood up there long of the green and in the fringe, definitely thinking birdie now.

ON THE GREEN (1:44 p.m.): Two-putt birdie for Woods and he's back with a circle on the score card.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under thru 2 (8 under overall)

Hole 10: Par 4, 302 yards

OFF THE TEE (1:13 p.m.): Tough star to the round, misses short and left with a fairway wood and he's in the bunker. We'll see what it looks like from there, should still have at least a semi-decent chance of getting up and down for an opening birdie.

AROUND THE GREEN (1:19 p.m.): Not bad from the bunker, ball had a lot of check on it coming out. Leaves about 40 feet for birdie and if he ends up with par it will be his first of the week at 10. Made birdie in each of the first three rounds.

ON THE GREEN (1:25 p.m.): Leaves the flagstick in again from 34 feet and left it just a little short. First time all week he's failed to birdie this hole and we're on to 11 after a par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: E thru 1 (7 under overall)

Pre-Round

Tiger Woods completed his third round of the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club Sunday morning, carding a 6-under 65 to move up the leaderboard.

He was T-12 at 7 under when he finished Round 3 and will begin the final round at 1:10 p.m. ET following a short lunch break. We'll be tracking all of the final round right here.

Here's what you missed earlier, including a stellar eagle at the par-5 first hole to start the morning on a high note.

Round 3

Tiger Woods vaulted into contention Saturday and was T-14 with plenty of golf left Sunday at the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club. Woods is on the course for Round 3 and set to play 28 holes today, as tournament officials look to avoid a Monday finish.

Woods began his third round off No. 10 and finished up his par at the par-5 17th to start the day Sunday.

We'll be tracking every shot from Woods all day. Follow along below.

Hole 9: Par 4, 438 yards

OFF THE TEE (12:17 p.m.): He loves it. Didn't even need to watch it land, that's a fairway for sure and a chance to make up for that bogey on his last hole of the round.

APPROACH SHOT (12:23 p.m.): Weird miss there, pulled it to the left. Had a total green light from 150 yards out in the fairway so he won't be pleased with that at all. It is on the green though, so he'll have a birdie putt.

ON THE GREEN (12:28 p.m.): Leaves the flagstick in for the long birdie try and runs it just a foot or so from the flag. That'll be a tap-in par to finish up. He'll surely be disappointed to play the last eight holes at 1 over following the eagle, but there's very little to dislike about this round. Right back at it for the final round shortly.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 6 under thru 18 (7 under overall)

Hole 8: Par 4, 433 yards

OFF THE TEE (11:58 a.m.): Looks like it missed the fairway by a yard or so. Tiger was staring that one down the whole way, shouldn't be too bad a lie from there but not what he was hoping for.

APPROACH SHOT (12:05 p.m): Drive actually ended up in a bunker, 152 yards out. Had a pitching wedge and hit the lip of the bunker, popped up back into the fairway. Not good and this is the first time all day Tiger's actually been in danger of making a bogey. Stay tuned.

AROUND THE GREEN (12:08 p.m.): Went long with a sand wedge and that's well beyond the hole near the fringe. Gonna be a long putt coming up to try and save par.

ON THE GREEN (12:13 p.m.): Came up short on the par try and he taps in for the first bogey of the round, snapping a streak of six consecutive pars.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 6 under thru 17 (7 under overall)

Hole 7: Par 4, 407 yards

OFF THE TEE (11:44 a.m.): Perfect. Ball sounds great off the club right now and he's in the middle of the fairway. Just a wedge coming into the green and it's time to put something close.

APPROACH SHOT (11:51 a.m.): Not the best approach shot from there but he's on the green and putting.

ON THE GREEN (11:53 a.m.): Read the break beautifully and left the ball hanging on the cup by a dimple. Easy par from there. Onward.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 16 (8 under overall)

Hole 6: Par 3, 194 yards

OFF THE TEE (11:32 a.m.): Landed that one just on the right fringe and got a bounce, ball comes to rest on the green but leaves a lengthy birdie try to finish this one off. Definitely the proper miss on this hole with a bunker in the middle of the green.

ON THE GREEN(11:39 a.m.): Slightly cautious with that one and a smart play, lags it up for another tap-in par and will hope for at least one or two more chances to get aggressive to close things out in the third round.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 15 (8 under overall)

Hole 5: Par 4, 423 yards

OFF THE TEE (11:16 a.m.): Beauty. Little stinger with a 5-wood and Woods will be all systems go from the fairway.

APPROACH SHOT (11:23 a.m.): Nice one from about 139 yards out. Chance for another birdie here. Hard to believe Tiger is playing this well given the crazy rain-delay schedule and long days.

ON THE GREEN (11:28 a.m.): Close but no cigar. Just a tap-in par from there and still cruising along on a sunny Sunday morning at Riv.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 14 (8 under overall)

Hole 4: Par 3, 236 yards

OFF THE TEE (11:03 a.m.): Didn't looked like he caught it the way he wanted but that'll be just fine. Quite a poke there with a 4-iron and the ball is below the hole with a decent look coming up.

ON THE GREEN (11:11 a.m.): Didn't drop from 29 feet but a good effort there. He'll tap in for another par and keep things rolling bogey-free in the third round.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 13

Hole 3: Par 4, 425 yards

OFF THE TEE (10:46 a.m.): Didn't like that one and it ends up well off the fairway in the left rough. Key stretch to get through here with two par-3s over the next four holes.

APPROACH SHOT (10:54 a.m.): Landed on the green but had a lot of spin on it, think it rolled off the green entirely. Shouldn't be any concern for the up and down but he was looking for something closer from about 130 yards out.

ON THE GREEN (10:58 a.m.): Lot of break in that birdie try and it doesn't fall. Tiger will mark but cleans that up for par no problem.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 12

Hole 2: Par 4, 485 yards

OFF THE TEE (10:32 a.m.): Lost that one to the left a little bit and he'll be hitting out of the rough. This is some kind of story developing with Tiger suddenly T-6 and five shots back. Less than 24 hours ago it seemed unlikely he'd make the cut let alone get into contention. Wild.

APPROACH SHOT (10:36 a.m.): Talking to his ball there asking it to sit and it does. Really nice shot shape on a draw out of the rough and he'll have about 20 feet it looks like for the upcoming birdie try.

ON THE GREEN (10:46 a.m.): No dice, started walking after it right away. Actually had about 28 feet or so and he'll have to mark the par putt. Cleans up for a four and we're on to the next with par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 11 (8 overall)

Hole 1: Par 5, 497 yards

OFF THE TEE (10:15 a.m.): Just a beautiful scene on the first tee this morning with the sun shining brightly. Tiger hits the fairway with driver no problem, might he be thinking about another eagle here?

APPROACH SHOT (10:19 a.m.): Beauty. Now he's definitely thinking about an eagle because that one is all over the flag and will have maybe 10-12 feet coming up. Guess he hasn't lost any momentum from last night.

ON THE GREEN: Eagle!! That's Woods' second eagle of the round and he is on some kind of roll right now. Inside the top 10 now and five shots out of the lead. This is fascinating stuff.

ON THE DAY: 7 under thru 10 (8 under overall)

Hole 18: Par 4, 453 yards

OFF THE TEE (9:56 a.m.): Good tee shot finds the fairway and he'll be able to go at this one a little bit.

APPROACH SHOT (10 a.m.): Alright, Woods looked pretty comfortable on that swing and he puts it just on the fringe. Should be able to give it a run for birdie.

ON THE GREEN (10:06 a.m.): Came out a little jumpy from the fringe and he'll have about three feet left to clean up for par. No problem with that one and it's a 31 on the front nine for Tiger in Round 3. Big time birdie chance coming up at 10.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 5 under thru 9 (6 under overall)
