The Burlington Bees, Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, just couldn't stop scoring runs on Friday.

Burlington, which plays in the Midwest League, put on an astounding offensive display by ripping 24 hits in a 28-7 blowout victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits, according to Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com.

The Bees put the game out of reach quickly by scoring eight in the first inning and led 10-1 after two. They scored at least once in every inning, save for the third and seventh, and capped off the night with a five-run eighth. Every Bees starter recorded at least one hit, and all but one scored at least once (two Bees hitters scored five runs). They also clubbed two grand slams, courtesy of Jo Adell - the Angels' No. 2 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline - and Brandon Marsh; combined, Adell and Marsh finished the day 6-for-11 with 15 RBIs.

On the Quad Cities side, nothing went right. River Bandits reliever Patrick Sandoval gave up 10 of Burlington's runs in just 1 2/3 innings and all of them were earned, spiking his ERA from 1.93 all the way to 9.82. Seven of the 28 runs allowed by Quad Cities were unearned.

Unfortunately for the Bees, their 28-run outburst fell short of the Midwest League record of 40 runs, set by Danville on June 17, 1951, but it's still an impressive display as scoring 25-plus runs in a game is rare at any professional level.

In the major leagues, teams have scored at least 25 runs in a game just 16 times since 1908, and only three times this century. The last such game was in 2007 when the Texas Rangers plated a modern-day-record 30 runs.
