The Yankees can only hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

On the FIRST fielding drill of Yankees camp, veteran left-hander CC Sabathia rolled his ankle and had to leave the field.

Sabathia claimed he was fine as he left George M. Steinbrenner Field and GM Brian Cashman isn't concerned about the roll, but this is not what you want to happen, especially this early in camp.

The Yankees re-signed Sabathia to a one-year deal, which was a smart decision after a very productive 2017 season. The 37-year-old is on the latter-half of his career, making him more susceptible to injury, but he made an adjustment to his diet and seemed to be entering the season in great shape.

Well, now he already has a bum ankle.

Rolling your ankle isn't that big of a deal, but the big fella has had a myriad of lower-body injuries over the span of his career, including his right knee, left groin and left hamstring, so anything that would make him compensate for a nagging injury on the mound isn't a good thing.

Let's give him the rest of the week off, yeah?
