White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar has use of his extremities and is responding to questions and commands after undergoing brain surgery this weekend, the team announced Monday.

Farquhar, 31, passed out in the dugout Friday night after pitching the sixth inning of Chicago's game against Houston. He was transported to Rush University Medical Center and the team said Monday he is expected to remain in the hospital's neurological intensive care unit "for the next few weeks."

His condition remains critical but he is considered neurologically stable and has been speaking to doctors and his family.

The White Sox said fans wishing to send get-well messages to Farquhar can do so through the team by addressing mail to Guaranteed Rate Field, 333 W. 35th Street, Chicago, IL 60616.
