Loudoun’s 4th signing appears to have some character.

3 weeks until the first kick of their first season, Loudoun United added their fourth player today, signing Andrew Lubahn to a contract. The 27-year-old joins his fourth team in as many years, after playing for Louisville FC in 2016 and with the San Francisco Deltas in 2017, as was part of the Deltas’ squad that won the 2017 NASL Championship with a 2-0 win over the New York Cosmos. 2018 saw the Pennsylvania native return home to play with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, appearing in 18 games and starting 9, as part of a Riverhounds team that allowed the fewest goals in the league before being upset in the first round of the 2018 USL playoffs to Bethlehem Steel FC in penalty kicks.

Lubahn played on defense multiple times with the Riverhounds, though he played as a midfielder as well and is listed as such by Loudoun, so possibly a defensive midfielder role is in his future. Moreover, coach Richie Williams’ about expecting to see Lubahn as a leader in the locker room seem to hint at a potential captaincy for the club.

Lubahn is the 3rd announcement in 5 days and 2nd in 24 hours, one would expect the signings to continue to be fast and furious.
